escapement?

While thinking about the type of people who can take a watch apart and put it back together again, I thought... I've never done that.  But in thinking about the mechanics of it, I may have recalled
something in regards to the nature of pendulums, springs and gears.  The term "escapement" came up in regard to clocks on the History Channel. That aside I may not get around to taking a clock apart, let alone following up* on the particulars of what I will now put together, but it feels** similar.
